Gospel of St. Mark's 13.24-32
I come to proclaim the Good News, the Gospel. You just cheer the gospel singing "Praise to You Lord Jesus." It is for us the Good News of God. But let's face it, the tone of this page is dark. We feel that this is the announcement of a disaster and not good news. We are at the end of the Gospel of Mark, in what is called the eschatological discourse, the discourse concerning the end of the completion time. And right after we are in the passion narrative. So what's the good news is that we announced on Fresco dark background?
Jesus spoke of His coming. So what it comes, he comes and gathering. When these things happen ... then they see the Son of Man coming together and around the world elected.
He explains: "the comparison of the fig tree teach you." Describes the upheaval does not herald the winter or death, it is comparable to that of the spring ad summer. To tell the long history of God's covenant that creates the world and likes to risk it by giving us His Son, the Bible uses the words of men talking to men. The book discusses the genesis, the birth of the world with these words:
"Au, the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. He made two lights: the greater to rule the day and the lesser light to govern the night ... "Then the stars. This trilogy sun, moon and stars, the universe in its beginning we find, when Jesus refers to the end, completion.
Good News of today may be simply this: as there was a beginning involving the entire universe in the loving plan of God, so there will be an end of history, not as a disaster scenario, like a dead end or everything would be finished. This term is a new beginning, marked by the coming of Christ that we continue to wait and ask each Eucharist, we expect your return in glory.
That's good news today, as our lives and our world have a beginning, a source which is God's Word through whom all things were done, so the term, ie what we are called, which is why we have been raised, our completion; He is Jesus.
It opens and opens our world, our life to a new space, a new horizon for new heavens and new earth. The gathering it inaugurates is to live united us and united with him, permanently, forever. And how to say this, as often what is most important, most vital, if not with pictures as often those who love, live, give. That's the good news that sounds tonight, which sounds at every Eucharist, where we have let ourselves together, transformed by Jesus Himself in the heart of darkness of our lives, like those of the world.
- When we come into winter,
- when many contemporaries know winter in their lives,
- when the Crisis hits hardest those who are already vulnerable, excluded or isolated
- when the Catholic Relief campaign draws our attention to the poverty which particularly affects women alone.
- when the reality of life weighs so much on the shoulder that we sometimes think that there is "nothing new under the sun," it is not love of God that leads the world, there is sight of a man nothing to see or hope.
Certainly, evil can spiral in human history but can not stop the powerful germ of the new world that introduced the world's coming and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In this day has officially opened Neheim, the procedure for the beatification of the Servant of God Frank Stock, his life and priestly ministry, tell us how the heart of atrocities, a wave of hatred and inhumanity to man of faith, hope and charity, he took a path of giving, reconciliation, peace, humanity which he became a minister without exception in the heart of hell.
That life and Department of Father Frank Stock, our desire for recognition by the Church, the holiness of his life, we do hear and answer the call when he addressed the seminar to leave the wire, "even lost in the mass, the Christian must face, ask questions, become an object of scandal because it is precisely through the shock of the scandal that starts the real apostolate. And what Christianity is to be human ... Christianity which irradiates the darkness like a beneficent light, a Christianity steeped in a century of steel for iron, a Christian can blaze in our time of atomic energy ... Our ideally be children of our century, to reconcile us to the church and the modern world .. .
"Saints that conform themselves to this vocation and transmute under the zeitgeist. Saints who, if they renounce human love, know what they give ... Saints who are not afraid of disaster or revolutions, but know everything and taken advantage of tending to their whole being to the second coming of the Savior. Saints that reconcile the attachment to their homeland with the carnal love of humanity, beyond the borders of nations, empires, races and classes. "
"This is the call to holiness that we cast the votes by the providence of history. It is important to follow ... "
With my brother in the episcopate Hans-Josef Becker, archbishop of Paderborn, I pray and ask you to pray
" Come with us and the leaders of our Church in all their efforts to raise Ton Franz Stock servant as an apostle of mercy and Thy messenger of peace to the glory of the altars, so that the light of his testimony of faith shine among us and can become a source of strength for many men. " Amen
"Lord, our God, we thank you for thy servant, the priest Franz Stock Thou hast called to reconcile two peoples separated by the hostilities of the war.
As an apostle of mercy and Thy messenger of peace, he brought to those in misery and despair, consolation and light in the darkness of hatred and violence.
By vocation herald of hope and his testimony of his humanity, Franz Stock was a tireless architect of reconciliation between the French and Germans.
Lord, we pray trustingly:
Let the example of his life remain still alive in the consciousness of our two peoples so that we can contribute to peace and unity of Europe.
Accompany us and the leaders of our Church in all their efforts to raise your servant Franz Stock as an apostle of mercy and Thy messenger of peace to the glory of the altars, so that the light of his testimony faith shines among us and can become a source of strength for many men.
We pray for our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, our brother, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit in all ages. Amen. "
